I Know a Guy is a guide to help you find local home-service companies. I check each company before it goes in (see how we choose companies), but being in the guide is a recommendation, not a guarantee of any outcome, price, or result.

You’re hiring the company directly — I’m not a party to that agreement and don’t supervise the work. Please do your own due diligence: confirm license and insurance, get the scope and price in writing, and use your own judgment before hiring.

Applying does not guarantee placement. Every application is reviewed by hand, and nothing is charged unless you’re accepted. If you’re accepted, the season fee is $175 for placement in that edition, in print and on this site.

Our promise:if an edition you’ve paid for doesn’t get printed and mailed, you get your money back for that edition. You must keep your license and insurance current and answer homeowner inquiries promptly. If enough homeowners raise a genuine concern, you may not be included in the next edition.

I don’t promise a specific number of leads, quotes, or jobs, and I’m not responsible for the work any company performs. The guide is provided as-is, and information may change between editions.
